In the first session...

...We start developing a therapeutic relationship by exploring and gathering a personal history and a description of present life circumstances. During this time we determine if we can work together in order to accomplish your desired goals – personal, professional, spiritual. This relationship is key in building trust so that you feel comfortable enough to relate and express your unfolding story which will begin to create greater self-awareness.

My work is client-centered and interactive. This is your time and we will work in those areas that are most immediate and important to you. I will provide feedback and support by offering alternative ideas and approaches to address your life issues. Past successes and personal strengths will be strengthened to create a strong internal foundation. If there are childhood traumatic issues, such as neglect or abuse, this foundation will allow the processing and release of the traumas.

My treatment approach is holistic. I utilize a variety of techniques such as systems theory, cognitive-behavioral, somatic work, family-of-origin, Lifespan Integration, EMDR, and spiritual work. My experience has been in-patient psychiatric hospital working with adolescent trauma. I contracted with DSHS Family Reconciliation for families with difficult teenagers. I led adult grief groups for Group Health Hospice. I provided psychotherapy in out-patient mental health facilities and now currently in private practice. I have worked extensively and specialize in adolescent parental loss and trauma, adult trauma and profound neglect.
